We have a few REALLY good ask blogs/tumblrs that people put effort into and lately I, personally have been worried by the stuff they’ve been having to put up with. I don’t want them to get discouraged by feeling obliged to interact with people who aren’t bothering to relate to other characters on the same level of respect.
I’m barely even ON the rp side of things really. But I’ve had at least one ask that made me uncomfortable.
Having to accomodate anyone and everyone is just gonna make everything go downhill really fast.

The OP expressing confusion over the odd state of the “rp community” is perfectly understandable. I don’t understand why ANY non-canon characters are even in it. I don’t mean casual crossover asks, I mean transplants. To me it always sounds like somebody way too entrenched in a certain concept to bother immersing themselves in a new canon.
It wouldn’t be “sad” to ignore “some roleplayers”. Not everyone has to be given equal attention just because they showed up. Like Hazard said, we’re here for Fallout. Because we enjoy it and are continuing the canon. If you aren’t trying to play by the same standards, why should you get the same respect?
And whoever added “gold star” - get the hell over yourself. You don’t get to dictate when a discussion ends just so you can have the last word. Quality and attention to detail counts, for just about anyone with an ounce of creativity.

Hazard was just telling me how she wants to stay away from the ridiculous multitude of Once-ler blogs because they’re messing with her enjoyment of the character, and I think I agree.
I like one or two but there are SO. MANY. And they’re completely unnecessary. People are doing one for every single personality label they can think of or doing their own ‘twisted’ version. What’s the goddamn point? You’re admittedly not trying to be in-character, so why are you bothering to pretend it’s anything to do with Once-ler at all?
I’m getting really sick of the way Oncest has progressed as well. I wasn’t gonna get angry at it for just existing before, but now it’s just awful. The only reason it exists is that a bunch of fangirls wanted their favourite character to have hot yaois. They actually think that a costume change denotes a split personality and have exaggerated that unbelievably out of proportion.
It only annoys me because it ignores the POINT of the fucking movie. We get a character with a lot of depth and personality who seems, above all else, pointedly realistic, and the only thing they want to do with him is force him into seme/uke roles and have them screw each other? And they still call themselves a fan of the character?! Well fuck you too! Was the concept of a multifaceted anti-hero too difficult for you? Are you really that limited in your understanding that you can only define characters under ‘good’ and ‘evil’ and then focus on nothing but who tops?
And good fucking grief, look what it’s spiralled into. Cliche sub/dom, cliche violence and abuse, awful redesigns. Nobody cares that it’s completely out of tone with the cute movie it all came from and nobody has any reservation about making a once decent character completely unrecognisable. People cosplaying selfcest abuse. It creeps me out like you wouldn’t believe.
Just, for god’s sake, I wish they would grow some self-awareness of what they’re doing. This is why everyone thinks the fandom is stupid and the movie is laughable and why I’m ashamed to like it in the first place. If they REALLY want to ship some relentlessly stereotypical abusive yaoi clonecest then HOW ABOUT MAKING UP YOUR OWN CHARACTERS MAYBE instead of pasting it all over something other people like
Sorry, I just…. it’s really starting to irritate me. It’s putting me off wanting to like the movie or be associated with it. Oncest is a stupid, terrible ship and it ruins a character they’re purporting to like. Not that any of them care.
I’m gonna go sit in the corner with the two, maybe three friends I have who like the Once-ler the way he is and aren’t deluded enough to like all these horrible ideas and hope I can retain my interest until the movie comes out
